The 2011 Stylus Group Announces 6th Annual National Stylus Award Nominees

Toronto, ON – April 4th, 2011 – The Stylus Group is thrilled to announce its nominee list for the 2011 Stylus Awards presented by Pioneer DJ. Honouring the best in the Canadian DJ industry The Stylus Awards recognize the accomplishments and progress made by DJs, Recording Artists and Producers in their respective categories.

For 10 days fans logged on to to cast their votes for their favourite DJs setting a record breaking 13,500 unique votes. The winners will be determined by a panel of experts comprised of Canadian music industry tastemakers and will be revealed on May 30th, 2011.

Some of this years multiple DJ nominations includes: 4Korners (Toronto) with four nominations, Jojo Flores (Montreal), Hedspin (Vancouver), Keith Dean (Montreal), Rich Kidd (Toronto) and DJ Mel Boogie (Toronto), with three nominations each, and Deadmau5 (Toronto), DJ Anchor (Saskatoon), and Kwake (Edmonton) with two nominations each. Artist’s gathering multiple nominations this year are: Danny Fernandes, Melanie Fiona, Drake, JRDN, and Shawn Desman all nominated for Fan Choice Artist of the Year.

In recognition of the incredible contributions to the development of the DJ and music scene in Canada, The Stylus Group is proud to induct into the Stylus Hall of Fame Canadian Hip Hop pioneers: Ron Nelson and Wesley “Maestro Fresh Wes” Williams highlighting the evenings special presentations.

The SpinFest weekend will kick off Friday May 27th in Toronto and includes a bevy of events such as; the Official Launch Party, the Stylus Boat Cruise, fourth installment of the National “It Starts With the DJ ” 3-city Conference Tour, and the second annual pre-awards show and Nominee Concert presented by HP featuring the presentation of seven awards. The weekend wraps up with the Stylus Awards on May 30th followed by the Official Stylus Awards After Party presented by BlackBerry.

The 2011 Stylus Awards presented by Pioneer DJ will take place on Monday, May 30th 2011 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre – 190 Princes’ Blvd, CNE Grounds, Toronto, Canada.
